Welcome to the Jungle.

Its recomended that you use 1/3 Pounds of beads for every 50 quarts.

Information on heartfelt beads

Re: Coolerdors & Beads (first post from VA)

it depends on what type of cigars you smoke on which humidity level beads you should use.
cubans are recommended at 65%, non-cubans are recommended at 70%.

ps - this will be moved to the "questions accessories" forum.

Re: Coolerdors & Beads (first post from VA)

i would think it would have to do with the fact that the humidity is higher in nicaragua, honduras, ecuador than cuba.

individual cigars each have a humidity that suits them best...

well, many reasons. that's what's recommended by "habanos sa" when you open a box and that little square piece of paper is sitting there...
then, they smoke better at 62-65% RH, easier draw, better flavor, etc, etc.

i've heard that higher RH, like those that non-cubans are kept, lead to tighter draws, muted flavors, bad burns, and on and on and on....

wish i was scientific about it, but the bottom line is: i learned from people mucho more experienced than i am, and that is what they did and some of what they told me.

you may think that's too low, that the cigars will burn hot and fast, but if you've never actually smoked cuban cigars at a low RH (some even keep a box around 60% for smokes they're about to smoke in the next week - called "dry boxing"), you'd be amazed at how slow and cool they burn... when i was a noob, i was amazed as well. dang robusto took me an hour to smoke...
