Never tried one. I bought a ionic filter /ozone machine on ebay for $28 plus $10 shipping. It's the second one I bought of this brand. the first one lasted 2 years. For the price I figure I got my money's worth so I bought another.

It works and all but you need to push the smoke out somehow. Just having the air cleaner will not protect you from putting smell into the sheetrock and carpet.

Right. I don't think there is any substitute for an ample amount of fresh air circulating.

I agree. You need to do these basic things to keep down on cigar odor. Always empty ashtrays and was them out as soon as you finish your cigar.

You can get you a basic exaust fan like goes in a bathroom to take out the smoke. Or get you a fan to put in your window to suck out the smoke. You can get you a cheap air cleaner and burn a good scented candle like the ones from Yankee Candle. I have yet to see a air cleaner that could handle all the smoke of a cigar. Only the real expensive commercial ones I have seen can do this.

I smoke in my office and use all of the above. Sometimes all at once some times just one or the other. I have people all the time say they can not smell cigars when they come in my house. RJT

Ozonators work for the cigar smell, then as stated before you either need a strong exhaust fan or an expensive charcoal air cleaner and not one of those cheap ones with some charcoal in the filter but 5-10 lb bed that the fan pushes the room air through..

Living Air Classic is overkill for one room and about 5x as expensive as these two items I mentioned. I have a Flair in my house, so it's not about Living Air, per se, but I was interested in something that would work well, inexpensively, for a single detached room.

For anyone using an ozone based air purifier... http://www.niehs.nih.gov/oc/factshee...e/airfresh.htm

I'm not sure if this affects you guys, as you may not have it on when you smoke, you may not sanitise the air, but to be effective Ozone generating air sanitisers have to produce dangerous amounts of Ozone. If this is reduced if it's a smaller combined ioniser/ozone generator, I'm unsure, but the Living Air says for sanitising the the air, don't be in the room... odour removal? Dunno.

[Edit: Don't know how much stock you guys put into Consumers Union (I presume it's like Which? Magazine over here...) but from their ConsumerReports.org site: May '05 report on ionizing air cleaners and Recent general report on air cleaners]
