sick period???

So the thing is Ive had my cigars in my humi at 69% for a month and a half already. At first when I got them they really tasted bad which I thought was due to their sick period bla bla bla....Now there are lots of posts which state that a cigar after a month to two months in a humidor will be generally ready to smoke normally. For that matter I have approx. 55 of my stoagies in a 75 ct. humi. When I whipped one out last night to smoke to see if they were better at all....I must say the cigar tasted better than a month ago , but still doesnt taste quite right. Matter of fact, I still didnt like it, but was better than before. Does this sound familiar to you guys...please share with me your thoughts and opinions,
Thanks ,
PLF

Re: sick period???

First off, this is in the wrong forum, I'd suggest you PM radar and ask him to move this to the all cigar lounge, or maybe just questions-cigars.. you'll get more replies that way..

But, to try and help... what kind of cigars are they? Non cubans or cubans? And how sure are you of the humidity.. are you using a digital hygro or an analog? Have you salt tested it? 69% is higher than a lot of folks here keep their humis.. I keep mine at 64/65... in addition to not tasting right, are your cigars burning poorly? If they have a bad burn, I'd suspect humidity is at the root of this. Cubans are the cigars with the most distinct sick period. Most non cubans are no longer green after a week or two of sitting in a humi.

Hope that helps some.. if not, I'm sure some FOG will chime in with better answers!

Too much humidity was my first thought, but maybe you just have some rotten tasting cigars. What kind are they? Where purchased? If AF Hemingways, probably not bad tasting cigars; I've sometimes picked some real stinkers (brand names that will go unnamed) from my very reputable local.
