Im in a bad spot and I need advice quick (beads)

I have two cigar boxes that I have filled with various sticks that are each sitting in sealed ziploc bags. They dont have any humidification in them right now.

The best I can do it put a soda cap full of beads in each box, but that is just a bandaid. I need a coolerdor, and I need it fast. I need to keep RH up, so I need beads.

I am on a bit of a budget.

I can get a lb of conservagel for 23 bucks
http://www.bargainhumidors.com/bh/Pr...CC-CONSERVAGEL

A lb of heartfelt beads for 29 bucks or a half lb for 17
http://heartfeltindustries.com/Beads.htm

Does anyone have any experience and opinion on the conservagel?

Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a cooler? I would like to get one pretty cheap, from say walmart. I just need it to hold 100-200 cigars.

Thanks

Lance, one good turn deserves another. I'll order a pound from Dave, and hit you with some when they get here. Can you hold out for a few days? Regarding storage, go to the local supermarket and pick up a Rubbermaid rectangular 5.4 quart bin. Seals well, semi-clear, and holds more than enough cigars. All of about $11 give or take.

For the time being... Dampen a small cup of salt with water, and place it with your cigars. This will bring the humidity up to 75% without breaking the bank.

Coolers???

I bought two (Igloo 38 Qt.) for $15 apiece at Meijer. They're a great way to put stuff into long-term storage!

Igloo Ice Cube from Wal Mart; $13 for the 48 quart, $19 for the 60 quart

I have both Conservagel from Bargain Humidors and Heartfelt beads in my cooler. I gave Viper my last bead purchase due to his great participation here. However I gotta say I would recommend the conserva gel. The beads I got from Bargain Humidors were uniform in size and lacked small fragments. The hearfelt beads varied in size and shape and had a lot more dust in them. If they were the same price I would probably go with the Heartfelt beads still, but cosmetically better looking beads for less moolah would be my advice.

Hey man, I appreciate the offer. You dont need to do all that though! However, who am I to argue with such a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment

Hopefully we can meet up next week, I can bring you a birthday gift from Fidel.

Too late, it's done. Ordered some 65% from Dave. They'll be here inside a week.

Re: Im in a bad spot and I need advice quick (beads)

Welp, got my cooler last night. 50 qt from walmart for 15.77 with tax. Not a bad deal, and exactly what I wanted to. Im just using spanish ceder boxes, which I think will work well. Right now, I have 2 VSG boxes which are filled with my bundle cigars, and also loose, non premium, odds and ends. I also have a blue graycliff pirate box which is empty now, but will probably hold some curlyhead deluxe maduros once i get them.

Now its just waiting on the beads, thanks again hammerhead.

Lance, turns out with that size coolerdor, you'll need more beads than I ordered. Let me double-check the volume:bead ratio and get back to you. In the middle of something right now...

Re: Im in a bad spot and I need advice quick (beads)

Lance, give me the measurements of the interior of the box, so I can calculate total volume.

Re: Im in a bad spot and I need advice quick (beads)

My always handy cooler calculator says that .333 pounds of Hearfelt beads are required for a 49-51 quart container. Little over 5 ounces then.

Re: Im in a bad spot and I need advice quick (beads)

Robert, I will have to double check on the dimension, but according the the heartfelt website, it is only 1/3 of a lb that I would need.

Re: Im in a bad spot and I need advice quick (beads)

1/3 of a pound will get the job done, but the more you have in there the less often you have to fill them.

I have 1.5 pounds seperated into 3 pouches of beads in my 60 quart cooler; one at the top, one in the middle, and one near the bottom.
