Well, there's only one sensor at the moment, so that's not it. FWIW, I'm at 24 hours and the sensor is still only at 58%RH in a 64% humidor. It's gotta be FUBAR. I'm going to try for another sensor and see what happens.

Re: Wiresess sensor reaction time?

The Oregon Scientific remote temp/hygrometer I just got reads a consistent 5% lower than the Western Caliber III, i.e. 65% in a humidor reading 70% Caliber III with 70% beads. At least this will help me track trends without having to open the humidor.

I might get around to 'calibrate' with Bovapacks as Western says not to salt test their digital, but don't feel too compelled to do that right now.

These are supposed to be weather stations? So what do they do... tell you the weather from yesterday?

Even after a reset today, my unit is still reading only 58% and it's been there undisturbed since 9AM. In my book that's a POS and totally useless. By the time it reacts to low humidity, my cigars could be parchment paper.

Can anyone recommend a unit that has sensors that react faster?
I have the Oregon Scientific and love it. Three remote sensors, and all communicate fine with the base unit. Every now and then, one quite communicating. Usually it's new batteries, and a reset while it sits next to the base unit, and starts working in 30 minutes or so. Then I stick it back in the humidor, and works fine for a long time.

What channel is the sensor set to? Is the base unit set to display the same channel. Also, on occasion, cordless phones interfere and I have to pop the batteries out of the base to get a "reset", then everything pops back up. Most likely the unit you got is a lemon.................Sorry about that ...........

Re: Wiresess sensor reaction time?

Plex, this isn't a com issue. That seems about the only aspect of this unit that was spot on. The sensors just flat out suck.

I bought a 2nd sendor to try it, and even that one levelled off at 58% humidity. In the span of 36 hours on one and 12 hours on the other, and neither got close to the reference Caliber III at 64%, so on the whole, I'd say this system is totally useless, IMO.

Maybe I just got a store that had a bad run of 'em or something, but I'm going to try a different brand tomorrow and see what that brings.

The OS remote/base seems to register low for me as by about 5%. Since the sensors seem to track fluctuations ok, I think I'll use them as with an analog: add the difference to readings and use as trend indicators. It would be great if these could be calibrated to the Caliber IIIs.
