Humidor Temp
I have been upset lately as I can get my humidor to sit right at 70 rH with out any trouble however it is near impossible for me to get the temp to go below 75 degrees no matter where I put it. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Re: Humidor Temp
I assume your living quarters are at or above 75 degrees? If not and there is no source of heat in the humidor, I assume it's a problem with your thermometer.

I have mine in the basement where it stays around 58-65 degrees all year round.

Re: Humidor Temp
If you have a room that is rarely used, put them in there and close off the heating/AC vents so that room is a little cooler. Just make sure that the room does get some heat or air from time to time by reopening them for a few minutes while the heat/AC is running. My humidors drop to about 60 degrees when we turn down the heat at night and go as high as 73F. It can be difficult to regulate temp and Rh this time of year.
I wouldn't let them get much higher, though, without doing something.

Re: Humidor Temp
its hard in Florida to keep the temp at 70. When I leave home, I turn up the AC to save some money on the power bill. Our AC runs 24/7 from about may to sept and some days its a struggle to get 72 inside (bitchin hot summers but from Oct to April its wonderful!)
I have been keping mine at 70-75. Just how big a fluctuation is bad for your cigars?

Re: Humidor Temp
Reading this thread has given me a little comfort, knowing that I'm not the only one keeping cigars at 70-75*. I can't crank down my AC any lower than 74*. Any lower, my wife would kill me. At 78*, she wears a light sweater in the house. I already told her that I HAD to store them at 70*. Her answer, "Give them away." You bastages better not try to buy my cigars from my wife when I'm in Afghanistan.

Re: Humidor Temp
I live in FL so no basement. We keep our house at about 74 degrees and that is the temp that the dor usually stays at if i put in a dark room. I figure that if it doesnt get too far above that I should be ok.

Re: Humidor Temp
Hearing all you Floridians bitchin about the heat and AC units, makes me want to send a bomb of snow if I thought it would make it
21 degrees and snowing in Duluth, just thought I would share.
