Just the tupperware and a humistat with PG (propylene glycol).

Re: Tupperdor
take a clean plastic container with and airtight seal (preferably square to hold cigars easier) and add humidifier of choice (beads or PG solution). Add cigars and enjoy.

Re: Tupperdor
About ready to have to do this myself, but I will be using beeds for the first time. But like Type 0- said, not much to it really. Tight fitting container and something to hudimify.

[EDIT] Humistats come in different sizes. Make sure you get one that is large enough to humidify the number of cigars you plan to put in the tupperdor. I figure a 50ct humistat should do you fine since a tupperdor is airtight. Last edited by TypeO-; 03-22-2006 at 10:30 PM.. |

Re: Tupperdor
if you really want to save money go to a florist and buy a chunk of florist foam. that in a small dish will hold PG solution.
Walmart sells small hygrometers in the thermometer section for around $7. |

Re: Tupperdor
My grandparents own a flower shop, so that won't be a problem.

All you need to start is any Rubbermaid or Tupperware (type) sealable plastic container. I'd strongly recommend that you get a FOOD SAFE container, because the kind used for storage of clothing or other objects can often have a strange smell that can transfer to your cigars. I see that you're talking about using a foam/PG system to maintain humidity, but I'd strongly recommend you buy 'beads'. These are a type of silica gel that is engineered to maintain a specific Relative Humidity setpoint across a wide range of temperatures - they both give off and absorb moisture to do so. Most of the guys around here (myself included) recommend 65%RH beads. The advantages are that they are no-spill, no-mix, no-guesswork, easy to position in different areas of your box to balance out the environment, and also if you get 'em in a perforated tube, can be tossed in a Ziplok bag with your cigars to keep them preserved for travel. A hygrometer is recommended because it also takes the guesswork out of maintaining your collection. As your interest in the hobby grows, so will your collection. I began just a few short months ago, and even on my strictly limited income, have a collection worth over $700 - and that's chump change compared to some of the other fellas here whose collections reach into the thousands and possibly tens of thousands of bucks. Even at my modest level, that's a significant investment enough to worry about. Here's my 'Rubbermaidador' below, with two bead tubes. I keep it for backstock (overflow stock) for what's in my main humidor:

![]() Top tray of my Reed & Barton Biltmore (I think I'll use this tray for "eye candy" cigars): Bottom section (there are other 'goodies' - RS12/Punch/Distinguidos - hidden in the middle section under the sensor): This is the special humi that I keep the smokes from my fellow LLG's that I've received as bombs. I figured they're worthy of a special place of distinction on their own. This one is shown with a bomb from Bruceolee:
