Skoal cans for bead holders

I've been saving my skoal cans for bead holders. I take the labels and glue off of them, clean them, and then drill holes on top. They work great and they are small so you can sit them on top of your smokes.

I assume these are not flavored porches or flavored tobacco? I have several of these, but were Bandits, and had a noted wintergreen?? flavor that I think is probably permanantly embedded in the plastic!! Probably would not work if that was the case!! Otherwise, sounds like a great idea!

They are long cut wintergreen cans. I cleaned the crap out of them and they don't smell anymore. Make sure you scrub them with a green scratch pad with dish soap and rinse very well.

Yada, yada, yada!! God I hate typing on my wife's laptop. I'm used to a full size keyboard, so this smaller keyboard and funky key action tied into my inate ability to mispell even the word "a" leads to having to take my foot out of my mouth!!

On the other hand, come home after too many beers, take a nose dive at the last step up to the porch, and you can generally find out what a porch taste like!!

I do know that the Bandit POUCHES taste like wintergreen!! Taste even worse when you swallow a mouthful of tobacca spit by mistake!!

Good to know they can be rid of the smell. I can see where these would be an excellent size for this use. Will have to empty out the ones I have and give them a try!

Re: Skoal cans for bead holders

I've found that the skoals (and other snuff containrers) work wonderfully as bead containers.

I heat a large sewing pin over my table lighter (Burnz-O-Matic), plunge about 50-70 holes through the lid, then throughly wash and dry the container. They're great for scattering about a coolerdor... And because you can easily pop the lid for recharging with distilled water, the condition of the beads is very easy to SEE.

Heck! Whatever you use as a container, so long as you can recharge the beads without undo effort, you're good to go!!!

Re: Skoal cans for bead holders

I recently converted a small plastic container from a bulk foods store. It originally contained dry bay leaves. It is similiar to a skoal can (probably a little bigger) but its clear so you can monitor the bead opacity change.

Great minds think alike.
