Can't keep my humidifier stuck to the lid

When I first got my humi I also got beads for their ease of use. So I never bothered using the humidifier that came with my humi. This winter I have had trouble keeping my humidity up with the beads alone so I started using the humidifier as well. My problem is that I can't keep the magnet that holds the humidifier to the inside of the lid to keep for falling off. My first thought is super glue but I'm afraid of the smell. Is there some sort of glue or adhesive that I can use that won't impart a horrible stench in to my cigars?

Maybe a new magnet on the humidifier may work?

I would think that hot glue, once properly cured would impart almost no smell at all. I was gonna try it in my humi, but I got lazy, and just put the humidifier with the 'gars..

Re: Can't keep my humidifier stuck to the lid

Buy more beads. Those stock humidifiers that use floral foam are crap. And yes they do not stay stuck to the lid. Here is what I did:

1. Open the brick and remove the floral foam
2. Line the grated side with cheese cloth of the like
3. Close the brick and tape shut
4. Drill hole (1/4 in) in the back of the brick
5. Pour in the beads (shaking and tapping to get them well packed in there)
6. Tape over the hole.
7. Add distilled water as idicated for bead use.

I have never had a problem with this falling off since it does not hold the amount of water that the foral foam does. I use this as well as a supply ofr beads in the lower area of my 200 ct humi.

If you are not wanting to go to that trouble or would like to use the floral foam try finding some commercial strenght velcro. I have been told you can get this at Home Depot or Lowes etc. and that it will work.

Good luck.

What Puro said: Velcro, with an advantage when you want to remove it it's easy!

I did this with mine, and it has been ok. I just added a little bit of silicone glue (the ones you apply with a heat gun), and it has no smell.

Re: Can't keep my humidifier stuck to the lid

Because you need such a small amount of KrazyGlue, the fumes are limited, and pass quickly. In fact, I just this moment did the same thing for my humidification element in my 2nd humi. The humidor side of the velcro was coming off, so I just reglued it. In about 10 minutes I'll open it again to be sure the smell is gone.

Agree the way to go is to open the humidifier, remove the foam and replace with beads. I cut some fiberglass screen material and glued it to the inside of the unit, and filled with beads.

Good luck!

I can't believe this never dawned on me. This weekend I'm taking my tube of beads and transfering them into my credo so I can free up some space.

Re: Can't keep my humidifier stuck to the lid

I have enjoyed reading this thread. I am glad that you asked the question rjose because I have the same problem with one of my humidors. A lot of great ideas here!
