Florida Humidity

Since I've moved down to Florida i've had problems keeping my humidity down. Its anywhere from 75%-72%. I bought a adjustable hygro and boveda cailibration kit so I think my hygro is ok. I'm using a half ounce of 65% beads for humidification for a 20 count humi. I know the humidity here is fairly high because whenever I open my humi the RH rises. I've tried a dry box, but that doesn't help. Any of you guys that live in high RH areas have any advice?

In a dresser in my dorm...damn RH gets up to 80%. It messes with the fire alarms too.

Obviously the RH is also related to the temp. If you keeping it in a hot place...the rh will be affected. My recommendation is to first calabrate your hydrometer and make sure the readings are accurate. Then find a cool dark place for the humi. I keep mine in my closet in my bedroom. I actually have three and two of them are there. I use the beads and I have quite a bit of them in there a few pucks for my 250 ct and a couple of bags and a puck in my 700 ct. I only have a single puck in my 50 ct. All of whick are actually fine...I sometimes find that my RH is lower than I would like, but I try to keep it at 65% which are the beads I bought.

Thanks Bill, I think I need to relocate my humi to a cooler part of the room. Hopefully that'll do it.

I found I was starting to have the same problem when summer came to the Carolinas this year. I moved all of my humi's out of my office and upstairs into my walkin closet. Things have been peachy since then.
