Thanks for the info...

You are correct I would rather spend the extra $5 per half pound to ensure my smokes continue to stay at their peak...

And I appreciate it...

I'm a big advocate for heartfelt... sent a lot of buddies there. They are great people and provide a great product. Plus they support our board. If you are looking for beads that's the place to go!

I have had a few customers PM me asking me if I knew what this product was. I figured I would post here as well as answer the PMs.

I have no idea what this product is so I can't really comment on the effectiveness of it. I can state that it is NOT the same product that I sell. Just looking at the picturte I can tell it is not the same.

By the way, thanks for all the kind comments in the posts above. Heartfelt has been in business for almost 6 years now and it has been great to get to know all the fellow cigar nuts over the years. We will be around for many years to come and hope to meet more folks as they go over the edge of the slippery slope we call cigars.

HumidorBeads.com Response

From HumidorBeads.com,

Thanks for talking about HumidorBeads.com. Let me
answer the basic questions on the thread.

1. We are real. We typically ship the same day on
orders that arrive before 1 pm, the next business day on
orders that arrive after that. Sometimes we even ship
on Saturday. So, all orders go out very quickly.

2. The beads are not the same as Heartfelt. They are
a more generic bead that can be used for different
purposes. They are precharged to 70%, but they do not
have natural 70% memory. These exact beads are used
in many cigar clubs and retail operations for their
countertop display humidors. They typically use
propylene glycol on the beads instead of distilled
water to ensure 70%. But you can use them with either distilled water or PPG.

3. The difference between these and Heartfelt are
that heartfelt are engineer for 70% rh
memory. I've never tested them, so I can't say one
way or the other. I assume they are. This "memory"
creates a more expensive bead and is done (to the best
of my knowledge) through tighter controls over the
pores of the silica beads. Humidorbeads.com beads
have a wider range of pore sizes in each bead. This
creates a more adaptive product with less memory.
But, they are used successfully to maintain 70%
humidity in many applications. With ANY
humidification product you must use a hygrometer and
monitor the humidity in your humidor. Whether you are
using a black sponge based box or a $100 plus
electronic Oasis humidifier, you need to rehydrate any product you use and you want to monitor the RH in your box. Properly monitored these
beads are as effective as any other product an provide
flexibility to those who want it.

4. The humidorbeads.com site and advertising is
fairly shallow because this is a test marketing
program for these beads on both a wholesale and a
retail level. We have received and shipped orders
daily from a very small test ad, plus we are
discussing shipping wholesale beads to many online and
brick/morter resellers. Also, this is the only thing we sell. After having different people ask me for these all the time I decided to make them generally available throught the site.

Thank you again for your interest. Different strokes
for different folks. A couple other advantages of
these beads over competing "bulk" beads is this.
There are other online beads that appear to sell for about
$16 per HALF pound, but the site doesn't tell you they
have a One Pound Minimum order size. We package and
sell true 1/2 pound bags. If you order over 2 lbs you
get free shipping as well. Shipping for 1/2 lb and 1
lb is the same at $4.95.

If you want to contact me, my personal email address
is aokrongly@yahoo.com, my phone number is
682-365-4175, all orders are shipped from Arlington
TX. We don't publish email addresses on the site (and use an email FORM) because of the massive spam that happens to published website addresses. I have a couple other sites and the email boxes for them are basically useless because of the 1000 to 1 ratio between spam and legit emails. I don't publish a phone number because I don't take phone orders. I put it here because you asked.

DO WE SHIP TO CANADA? Yes, we ship anywhere. If
there's a difference in shipping costs you would need
to pay that.

Thanks,
Tony Okrongly

BTW, if you're in the Arlington Tx area then you will often run into me at Tobacco Road on Cooper Street. I'm a member #7 of the club. My favorite cigars include: El Rey Del Mundo (Honduran Robusto and Cuban Choix), Grand Habano Corojo #5, CAO VR Black Petit Corona, and the Rocky Patel Vintage line - although the Fusion tends to have wrapper issues. My favorite cheap stick (for about $1 a stick on Cigarbid) is Cu-Avana Maduro Series Toro. It's mild and has a fairly short finish, but it's a good $1 maduro stick that burns well and has some decent flavor.

I'm here to stay.

No, I'm here to stay. This is a fun site. I was on cigarpass, but this forum seems more fun. I really like the contest thing. I started one, but I'm also go to see if I can win any. If my previous forum experience at www.flopturnriver.com is any indicator. I'll probably be a forum hog. lol I ended up having my own space on that forum. But I was a pro poker player, so... I'm no cigar expert that's for sure. But I love smoking them and enjoy trading them.

Tony -
Thank for joining the boards, and for clarifying some things for us. As you can tell from the posts in this thread alone, we are fervent and vocal supporters of both products we've used, and companies that have treated us well. That being said, we're an open minded group as a whole - you've got a great opportunity here to "win friends and influence people" here. LOL
Welcome!

I recieved my order of beads from "humidorbeads.com" and I don't think they work. The beads stay hard like plastic beads. They do not soften and get clear like other beads. I am very disappointed with their product.
