I used 1/4" plywood to cover the styrofoam and stabilize the cabinet. The entire inside was then lined with Spanish Cedar 1/4" boards.
I state this in the article.

That looks great. Sounds like you may have the makings of a part time job there.

I hope you are planing on removing the exhisting cedar from the chest. That's the wrong kind of wood for a humidor. Ought to be cool though!

Wiring the computer fans was a royal pain as the hydra uses ribbon cable to feed all power sources to and from the unit. I had to take some old hard drive cable and retro-fit it to be able to use it. It's kind of a Gerry-rigged situation, but it works.

Yeah, Condons is the Bomb when it comes to exotic wood. A real treasure spot!

Thanks for the compliment. Mark

That is a beautiful humidor. I wish I had the talent to a project like that.

Nice set up! Those old ice chests are something else. I imagine the tearing out of the tin lining must have been some work. I worked at a museum that had a lot of them from local farmhouses, there are a lot of interesting ones with some intricate carvings and designs etched into them.

Mine was surprisingly easy. It was held in by some old nails and I saved all of it. I do need to tear out the spanish cedar and put in the plywood to make the box a tighter seal and redo my dividers. I have been inspired by the other ones to juice mine up a bit.

I will have to see if I can find some other cool anitques for cigars. I also need to order some beads.

That is a thing of beauty. If you don't mind me asking, how much did all the material cost and how much time did it take?

That is truly awesome. My dad has an old ice chest that he redid the outside to. I told him to convert it into a humidor and his eyes lit up. Only a matter of time before I post pics of his project
