Update -

Picked up some spanish cedar this morning from Rockler. I got a 8' x 6" x 1/2" plank to build 2 shelves and some smaller pieces for a tray. I will hopefully get to work on it tonight.

Sweet setup. I just received my Johnson controller today. This is a slow process but I'm making progress.

Re: Vinotemp Wine Cooler

Well here are the 99% done pictures. The cabinet is operational.

This weekend I built two shelves out of Spanish Cedar, added 1 1/2 pounds of Watersorb and put in a fan on a timer. Currently the fan runs for 1.5 hours, then off for 1.5 hours. Why I picked that cycle? Because the timer I got at Walmart gives you 8 cycles, so I broke the 24 hrs up.

I filled the cabinet this morning after it had run for approximately 24 hours and held stable at 67-70% RH and temps in the low 70 range. The weather here has been pretty warm so I'm pretty happy with the temps in the cooler.

With the condensor now running off the Johnson controller the fluctuations in RH have dropped significantly. The condensor now runs for about 1-2 minutes every half hour during the heat of the day. The RH will drop 1-3 points during that time, but stabilzes very quickly afterwards. All my sticks are in boxes or in my desktop humis which are also in there right now.

I have about $140 into this project, not counting the cabinet which was gifted. So far, so good.

So far I am extremely happy with this setup. I'm running 70/70 consistently now.

I'll let you know.

Darrel -

The cabinet is working great. The only problem is that it is not full.

I am using beads and big blocks of oasis foam for humidity and it keeps the RH around 63-65% which is what I want. Relatively low maintenance and it has more capacity than I have money.
