Hmm. I just can't wrap my head around the idea that the structure of the silica is changing simply by having it sit at a specific humidity level for an extended period of time. smokem, pm sent. I may be able to get started on my own experiments sooner than I thought.

Yesterday I saw the humidity in my fridge had gone through the roof +80% I have over a pound of beads and it has been working fine.
Nothing has changed, no leaks and about the same amount of boxes inside.
So if the kitty litter thing works I'm off to Petsmart, I need a quick fix

I used the Exquisicat Pearl kitty litter a long time ago in a coolerdoor. I've since moved to a cabinet and Cigar Oasis XL Plus. However when I used the kitty litter, it worked fine. I used about 1.5 lbs, and it held steadily at about 68-70% humidity. I've since moved to a lower RH, but for the price, the kitty litter worked just fine.

i have kitty litter in mine...look in my profile and there are pics I think. My humidor will not budge off of about 68% That being said you have to use distilled water not the PG solution. I got osme mold and since switching to distilled water it has been fine. Also make sure you dpray them not soak them...just what I have expierenced.
