Salt Testing Adjustable Hygometers

This is a question directed to Mark or Viper but if anyone has any insight into this, please respond:

Couldn't a person "salt test" hygrometers using beads?

In other words, if you use 65% beads, couldn't you put them in a sealed tupperware bowl with you hygrometers, wait 24-36 hrs, then adjust up or down to 65%? It makes sence in my jumbled up way of viewing the world. Just wanted to see what everybody else thought.

Why do this instead of using a soda cap, salt and water?

I use them to calibrate and it works very well, just make sure you don't completely saturate the RH Beads. You want to hydrate between 60-70% of the RH Beads (hydrated RH Beads will turn clear, dry RH Beads will remain milky white).

I hope this helps

Why not, if it works? I'm thinking that you could just put an uncalibrated hygrometer in you humi for a few days, pull it out and adjust it. Just an idea that I wasn't sure would work. We pretty much trust beads to work, it would be the same as a salt test. Again, just a passing thought in the day.

I guess I was thinking one was based on a scientific principle. The other uses the beads that although they work great, I don't know if you can describe them as 100%accurate.
