Heartfelt humidifiers question

I just bought a Heartfelt humidifier from the local B&M and was wondering if I could use boiled water with it, or do I need to use only distilled? Any information would be of help.

DISTILLED!! even purified water has things in it that will cause problems for ya. Distilled and only distilled. (Granted there has been emergency situations that I've had to 'rig' the water) but trust me..distilled. Room temp too..not cold, not hot. You just bought yourself a sciene project

Distilled only. All boiling does is kill bacteria. Distilling removes all contaminants (minerals, chemicals, etc.)

you can get like a gallon at the grocerie store for like a buck. If u use anything other than distilled you will ruin your humidifier

What about water that has been purified by Reverse Osmosis? It is supposed to be as pure as water can be.

I still don't think I would trust it. Especially if its meant for drinking. They usually add minerals and stuff to make it taste better.

How about using boiled water for the gel humidifier jars? Or should you only use distilled? You would think I'd know this since I have smoked cigars for years, but honestly, storing cigars is my least favorite part. :support:

Like I said, boiling really does nothing but kill bacteria. And thats no big deal. The thing to be concerned with is the chemicals and minerals. The distillation process removes these. Minerals and stuff can "clog" the beads/gel/foam/whatever and make them virtually useless.

I actually have a Reverse Osmosis filtration system in my house. All the water in my house first runs through a softener, then a charcoal filter. It removes all solids out of the water. Then the drinking water runs through The Reverse Osmosis unit.I have had it tested & it come back as 100% pure. I haven't tried it in the Humis yet.I have had the whole house filtration system for about 2 months.

I have an ro/di system that I use for my saltwater aquarium systems. When that water comes out it has 0 TDS, 0 trace minirals, 0 phosphates, 0 chlorine, nothing......Much better than distilled.

That sounds complicated..... Is that a common thing to have?

If a gallon of distilled water is $1.25 in California, it can't be any more expensive in the rest of the States.....why not just use the distilled water? You know it works and its cheap!

RO water would be fine. I use to use it also for a saltwater aquarium. It is pure water. A couple of H's and one O and that is it. Distilled water is just cheaper to make mass quanities of. You don't need a filter, carbon, and membranes. It is basically just boiling water and then condensing it. The impurities are left behind.
