Problem with wine cooler temp
Anyone willing to help me figure this one out? I have an 11 bottle (9+2) Chambrer wine cooler. I am using beads with are 70% that are keeping it at 65-68%. The unit is new but not holding any cigars or wine. It is at 75 degrees. I have the unit at 60 degrees to try an cool it down with no luck. The room is at 75 degrees as I just bought a portable air conditioner to keep cool this summer. All I have in the wine cooler are beads and empty cigar boxes. Anyone know how to get the temp down

Those empty boxes are 'cushioning' the air. Take them out. You also need to make sure that you have forced air movement in there. Stag air will remain warm and settle heavy.
The beads are doing their job, but the temp with screw with all that. You gotta get the air moving. That's the thing when you get into the larger sizes of storing cigars.

If your room temp. is 75 and the cooler temp. is 75, then you are getting no cooling at all. You should see some temperature drop, even with stagnant air inside the cooler. You may have a defective cooler.

I'm putting in a fan now so that should help. Also, I am yanking the empty boxes. About the cooler possibly being defective, I am worried about that, but I hear the fan moving and the unit is brand new, but I will keep an eye on that if I don't notice any drop by tomorrow.
Thanks for the help. |

Not under warranty. I bought it 'new' in the box, however from craigslist.org I was desperate in terms of time b/c I bought a 120qt igloo cooler and couldn't keep the temperature of the cooler down. No basement here in my one bedroom apartment. I can't figure out any other reason why it wouldn't cool, but I didn't want to wait to have a wine cooler shipped. Thanks for the feedback.
P.S. I am reading reviews online for Chambrer and they are negative. I will look for a scratch and dent or a reasonable priced retail unit. I don't want to lose any cigars. |

Don't know if this will help or not but the wine fridge will "reset' itself. Check the manual if you have one. Also, You could try sitting your cooler closer to your return air vent or closer to the ac unit for a temp fix. According to our HVAC guy its a few degrees cooler by the return vent on a central unit.

The unit is next to the air conditioner. I gave up. I took out the boxes and still nothing. Perhaps I just got a bum unit. It is a Chambrer unit which is reamed online in terms of ratings. It's not an Avanti or VinoTemp. I broke down this morning and bought a 1,000 count from TampaHumidors. Thanks for the help though.
