Spanish cedar in coolers
I've noticed a number of guys have been taking cigar boxes apart and using the sheets in their coolers. I'm assuming guys are doing this to get the cedar smell in their coolers.
While I was working in my shop yesterday, I looked at my dust collector and noticed the bag was getting full of pure Spanish cedar shavings. While staring at all that Spanish cedar, the idea hit me. If guys want the smell of Spanish cedar, why not just use mesh bags or a Tupperware container with holes in it of these shavings. If any one is interested in this, let me know. You would just have to cover the cost of shipping. |

Thats a good idea Tim. Although my reason is more for humidity control than the smell. My thought is the wood will hold moisture and help the RH to recover faster after opening.

First off I HATE the heat! My AC is crankin'. It's 72 in my office. As of now I am only in one cooler. The 48qt is 71 degrees and 65%. My cabinet is At 65% also and room temp. Try taking the beads out and let them dry out for a few hours or leave them out for a day or two and see what happens.

I believe the reason for Spanish ceder is not really for the smell, but the ceder is a good defense against beattles, and holds up well in moist environmentsents without a mold problem.
