Here's the build of the new Humidor(More & more pics)

One of you mentioned a curve to it. Here's the way that is done. I'm making a curve top. The best part of a curve top is that the woman in our life won't stack crap on top of it.:arghhhh: In order to accomplish a curve, it requires a vacuum press. First a very strong jig is built to the shape. Then multiple pieces of bender board is glued up and screwed together and then put in the vac bag. A towel is placed over the multiple plys to let the vac pull evenly. When the vac is applied to the bag, it creates 1500 lbs per sq ft of pressure to the pieces and makes them conform to the curve. I'll keep posting pics as I make progress. Please keep the ideas coming. Thanks.

I forgot to mention that it has to stay in the vacuum until tomorrow morning. When building A piece with a curve top, everything else is built to fit the top. This is why I build the top first. Projects like this si why I bought the vac system.

I wish I could make a living at it Just a hobby for now. This is my first attempt at a curved top. Read up thoroughly on it so I think it'll be pretty cool.

I look forward to a blow by blow desciption. As a novice woodworker myself, (very novice), I am truley interested in how you do this. Keep up the good work.

Top looks good. How are you going to attach the top? Hinge it or chains? Or you just going to rabbet it?

Wood hinges and a brass stop like mine. I just put the lid back in the vac press with the AAAAA Burl wood Walnut on the top. Burl Walnut has earned one of the top places in exotic woods. The sides will probably be Quilted Maple or figured Shedua. I'll have pics tomorrow for ya.
