hydra foam exchange?

Been running my hydra in my new box and was thinking about changing the foam eventually.

I saw an earlier thread somewhere, but forgot to keep it..

Has anyone taken the floral foam out of their hydra and replaced it with something else?

If so, how is it working?

Please let me know and thanks in advance..

I have a similar unit. What where you thinking of replacing it with beads?

Not beads, but that gel you see in older humidification (I don't know the name of it off hand)..

I did an old search comparing the cigar oasis and hydra and I came across a person who switch the "floral foam" inside of the hydra unit to the gel.

The poster said when they did that, the replenishing of the unit was less frequent.

I know this would void the warranty, but I was looking for the info and if anyone has done this with success.

I'd be interested in hearing more on this as well, My hydra goes dry on me probably 3 times a week. It just don't make sence. It's in a well sealed wine cooler-dor, but I do open it 3-4 times a day some times.
