Emergency Bead Recharge

I am on a cruise ship and needed some distilled water to recharge my humidity beads. The price for their distilled water was upwards of $10 so I figured there had to be a better way.

I don't know if this is a good idea, but I grabbed a cup of hot water and in about five minutes was able to recharge the beads with the steam from the water. Don't know the long term on this one but it did the job in a pinch.

sounds like a good idea.
I once boiled/condensed water, then added a touch of salt in order to make contact lens solution.

Re: Emergency Bead Recharge

Nice bit of problem solving Sherlock! The manufacturers of the beads use water vapor only (humid air) to charge the beads, so you got it pegged.

Re: Emergency Bead Recharge

In my opinion thats gotta be the best way to recharge beads as you are adding no impurities at all. That was some really clever on the spot thinking there i think Da Klugs got it right with MacGyver

Re: Emergency Bead Recharge

I read somewhere else on here b4 about using that method to charge up the beads. WTG. Will definitely file this one away.... Aruba is in my not too distant future.

Re: Emergency Bead Recharge

I seem to remember someone posting a while back that he recharged his beads by closing the bathroom door and turning off the fan and setting the beads on the bathroom counter while he showered.
