Stacking Cigars in My Humidor

I recently upgraded and got myself a 300 ct humidor, the El Diablo. I love it! Looks great and holds the humidity well. But I am curious as to how many cigars i should place on top of one another. It has a tray and then the bottom area. Any help is great!

I have heard and read that 80% is a good rule of thumb in filling your humi. Too full or not enough will give you issues with RH sometimes.

Can you close the lid? If so then you should be ok LOL. It won't hurt the cigars to be stacked to high. If it is like gary said over 80% full just rotate your cigars every now and then.

The Squid-A-Dor® is packed solid maybe twenty rows deep with non-cellophaned cigars and they do just fine. Maybe once a year I'll pull every cigar out and re-pack it again. During the course of a year the stock at the top gets rotated in and out as I buy and smoke regular stuff. The problem is that a lot of that stuff at the bottom I don't want to be tempted with for a number of years yet. <G>

thanks for the advice! I have got a ways to go till I have to take out all of my cigars and re pack them! I had just read that one guy was repairing a humidor and when the guy took out all of his cigars there was a residue that had formed on the bottom and he mentioned something about how it had to do with the cigars being stacked too high. 80% seems like a good rule though, then I'll upgrade!!

That doesn't sound like it had anything to do with how he had his cigars stacked!! I would think the only prob you could have is maybe the bottom ones drying out, not any residue problems.

Just pile 'em in there and enjoy! I've never gotten all scientific with it and never had any issues. If your box is at least 3/4 full, it will maintain itself.

From what I hear it's not bad to stack the cigars just make sure that you don't crush them because then you will of course ruin them... That's amazing that you bought them. How many do you have in your humidor already???

Just a friendly tip from Squid®... It might be a good idea to use the quote feature so we know of whom you're asking the question... <G>

Squid®, I'll guess the last question was addressed to you, since you're the only poster (AFAIK) that has mentioned they have their humidor packed solid.
