Making the upgrade, what else...

I've been having an issue with keeping my RH above 60%, sometimes dropping down to 53%. I thought it had to do something with winter seeing as its been brutally cold here in CT and apparently my wife likes to keep the inside temp about the same as the outside temp . But then I realized that it really started dropping before that, after I purchased my first box in July. Then I read around the forums and saw that you should keep it no more then 80% full. Well I'm packed to the gills, 25 in a 25ct humi. I decided to make the jump and get myself a 150ct from tampahumidor and their starter kit. Is there anything else I need to buy? Do I need to upgrade the humidification or can I rely on what they ship the humi with?

I would suggest some beads (puck) or a Xikar Gel brick for the 150 ct. what type of hygrometer do you have?

I just purchases the Il Duomo from tampahumidor. Looks like it comes with "1 Glass Hygrometer with Brass Frame". Should I stick with that? Get a digital? Better quality analog? I read some post, people really like the beads. I figured I would have to pick some up.

go with a digital for sure. I have never trusted the analogs.

Heartfeltindustries.com for the pucks and beads.

Depends on which ones you get. My buddy got 2 of them and they were off by 6 and 7%.

I think I paid $12.99 for a Xikar that you can reset to 75% after doing a salt test which is really nice!

cool, I'm just going to buy them on line. I was thinking about digital, but needed some reassurance on that. I never used the beads, looking forward to seeing how they work out for me. Thanks for all the help guys

The ones at walmart vary to much. Some people have had nothing but luck.

Personally the one I got there was garbage. took 10 days in the salt test, and the highest I got (and got there on day 10) was 68.

Interesting, I havent had any issues yet, I am due for another salt test to confirm the humidity that they are at but I have had no issues.

But I guess you get what you pay for on some things
