Do you need to Calibrate your hygrometer?

A bit ago I purchased a calibration kit used to determine how "off" my hygrometer readings are which I completed recently. On the package it states that the kit is good for 3 months...that said, I thought it would be a good idea to pass it along and share with other BOTL that are just as concerned about proper/accurate humidity readings.

First in line is...
1) Bent Stem (Ohio)
2)...
3)...
4)...

Keep in mind that the kit must be kept in constant temp to work properly if you don't have somewhere to keep the kit between 65-75F it will not work properly and you will dry it out much fatsre rendering it useless

Get a digital hydrometer and be done with it. 999 out of 100 analog hydrometers do not work. I don't can how and how often you calibrate it.

Salt testing works well, I've been able to check it against a calibrated one and it worked to within 0.4% and only cost me a capful of salt.

Re: Do you need to Calibrate your hygrometer?

That looks like the Boveda calibration kit. In it's instructions, it tells you that you can use any Boveda pak to do the same thing. Use a digital hygrometer. I have four different brands, and by far the most accurate is the Western Caliber III, none of the six I have being more than 2% off.
