Coolerdore issues...
My coolerdor still smells quite a bit like plastic, I do have cedar lining the bottom half of it and if I put my face down into that half it doesn't smell that much of plastic BUT I'm wondering if the smell will have an effect on my sticks. Any thoughts?

Re: Coolerdore issues...
You can air it outside for a few days and/or put a box of baking soda in it (lid closed). That should do the trick.

Re: Coolerdore issues...
Wipe down the interior with damp sponge and baking soda. Then air it out for 24hrs, dont forget the inside of the lid as well. Coolers are made of food grade plastics and will not harm your cigars. But the odor can be annoying. Some use cedar to help stabilize rh, but it does not make a huge difference.

Re: Coolerdore issues...
So that plastic smell won't make my cigars taste like plastic?

Re: Coolerdore issues...
The smell will have an effect on your cigars. It is the insulation outgassing that causes it. Wiping down the interior with a baking soda solution will help, but again, it is the insulation causing most the problem. Make sure you have a cooler that does not have a vent hole in the lid, like Rubbermaids do. Leaving open for along period of time will eventually solve the problem.

Baking soda worked like a charm for me.

Re: Coolerdore issues...
Heat will cause the plastic to out gas faster. I left my cooler OPENED in my shed in the hot sun for a week. Probably got up to 140 in there. No smell, but wish I had used a bigger cooler.
