you should never wet down a humidors inside at all it can cause it to warp and mess with the seal. the shot glass is the best way. i don't think i would trust hot water neither anything that works to fast is bound to warp the seal.and B.T.W. if it closes good theres no such thing of the seal being to tight

I believe I have a humi similar to this that I got right before i set up my coolerdor. When I got my beads, I unscrewed the lid off of the humi, then used the base and the lid as trays inside the cooler. No use in wasting all that cedar. My other plan was to save it for a drybox. It will still be worth the $7 I believe.
