Mold on the humidifier. Sponge type.

I have a Savoy humidor, and I have noticed that there is a small amount of white mold on the edge of the humidifier device. I believe it's called the creedo? There isn't any in other parts of the humidor or cigars. I removed it, but I'm not sure if I can rehab it or if I need to throw it out, or disinfect the humidor etc. I don't have another humidor and there are far too many to smoke em all in 24 hours.

Sounds scary I would at least try and disinfect it but I do not know if you be left with an ammonia or whatever else smell. Hope you don't have to throw it out.

Re: Mold on the humidifier. Sponge type.

You might be able to clean it but the mold may come back. It sounds like you are using tap water in the sponge part. You need to use PG solution to regulate humidity and then only mix with distilled water.

However, I would recommend switching over to beads. You can get the small puck type humidifiers from Cigarmony or HeartfeltIndustries, both are members of this board.
