Several Questions
Hello Gentleman,
Humi arrived today and I cant tell you how nice it is to see it here. I am testing all my Hygros right now and have some time to evaluate the box and start planning a little, hence these questions. The section for the bottom will obviously house the most cigars. People familiar with this Humi - The Salerno (300 ct) know that there is a good 8 inches of space for this low area. The remaining two trays sit 1/2 an inch apart and are each about 2 inches deep. So they expect me to stick a bunch of Stogies on that bottom level. 1. Where should I put the Oasis XL? It has a fan which will provide me the circulation I need and more important, the humidity. Its a decent sized sucker so it wont fit comfortably on either of the top 2 trays so almost by default, it has to go on the bottom. Instructions however imply that it should sit above all the Gars for better circulation. 2. This lower level is deep. So deep that one can imagine it getting 5-7 layers deep with cigar stacked on top of cigar. Is that okay? So many layers on top of eachother. I am gonna remove all Cello from all Gars. and 3. Although the divider trays show space for air to circulate. It feels like it may need more circulation. Especially since I will be stacking them 6-7 deep. Can I drill a couple holes where you see my fingers in the picture to improve circulation? Is that normal? I would assume people do that, have you? 4. Is the Oasis XL enough for circulation? I will definitely pack this puppy up very quick. I am gonna fill it. So it will be fully used. Is the Oasis XL fan enough or should I get another Oust fan? If I need one, where should I put it? And the XL for that matter if I have two fans in there. Awaiting to hear your ideas and wisdom. Eager baby puffer fish awaiting guidance. Thank you. I think you can click on the image to see it larger on another webpage. ![]() |

Re: Several Questions
1. anywhere should be fine. Your humi is not big enough to vary largely in humidity.
2. layer the cigars as many as you want. only take celo's off of you do not plan to rotate or dig for your cigars as they may get damaged in that process. in truly its a never ending question of leave them on or off. 3. dont worry about circulation. your humi is not big enough for a big variance. 4. your oasis is plenty for what you want to do. dont get me wrong, you have a big humi but when you start thinking about coolerdors or larger that is where you need more circulation.

Re: Several Questions
Yes, be patient. If you get cigars in the mean time get a humipack and store them in a zip lock.

Re: Several Questions
I am gonna heed everyone's advice and put myself into Patient Mode. I haven't been patient at all actually, this entire time. I was ready to purchase quite a few boxes today but I am going to force myself to listen to you guys. As you know, that can be difficult. I trust all of y'alls's experience.
I will season longer than what was planned as well. I actually already wiped down the inside this morning and put the mildly moist sponge on the bottom, sitting on some plastic. The wipe was very minimal though. I didn't maximize the 'coat the humi so you see discoloration' step. Half of the soaking was already dried up by the time I got to closing it. Used distilled water. I am gonna order several more samplers before I dive in with big purchases. Whats the saying...Slow and Steady wins the race. Thanks again. Edit: And Glock. Like the idea. I can imagine all the little personal touches that people bring to the experience. We could probably write a book on it actually. "1,001 additional Cigar Tips & Tricks you would have never thought of." Written by Puff Members. NY Times Best Seller List 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012...... |
