Cedar lining

My fiance received a 25 count box of Heavenly Vanilla Petites about four years ago. Well, only about 5 were smoked and they have just been sitting around in the original box. My question is this.

Is there any way to salvage the cedar lining in the box? It has taken on quite a bit of the cigar odor (vanilla). Does cedar stay good for a long time?

Re: Cedar lining

The cedar itself is fine but I say ditch it unless you want it for flavored sticks. That smell will probably be there forever.

Re: Cedar lining

You could try sanding it and then wiping with distilled water. Use a medium grit paper.

Something like 240 grit, wipe it down with distilled water and let it dry. Then lightly go back over it with something like 360
