Recommend an affordable table top lighter?

Hey,

Currently I'm using a Xicar Axia lighter ATM. I end up refilling the lighter every 3-4 cigars and it is getting kind of tedious.

Can anyone recommend me an affordable table top lighter or a torch with a large capacity fuel tank?

Should I just a get torch meant for cooking at a Wal-mart/Target? Will I have problems torching my cigar?

Also, excuse my noobness, but what exactly is a "herf"?

Thanks in advance for all the replies!

Edit: Title should say torch, not lighter.

Re: Recommend an affordable table top lighter?

I have 2 Lotus Table Top lighters, and LOVE them. ($45.00 price range)

I have 2 regular Colibri's that just EAT fuel, and it drives me NUTS!

If you toast the foot, obviously you're going to use up some fuel each time you do it. If you don't toast the foot, your fuel will go much further before refueling.

I think if you stick with something similar to the Lotus Table Top..you won't go wrong IMHO.

Re: Recommend an affordable table top lighter?

If you like Perdomo smokes there's a few places that throw in a Vector made table top lighter with a box purchase. I got one this way and it's not a bad lighter. It's like a 3.5" high zippo in shape, heavy as hell and holds a ton of fuel. You gotta get it dialed in tho before it starts lighting correctly every time. Plus, the +/- is backwards on mine, but once it's dialed in it doesn't matter. Triple flame, vector, decent lighter basically for free considering you can find the same smokes without the lighter for the same price.

Or, on the other end, a Blazer torch is an excellent lighter although not a table top. Holds enough fuel for 20 or more smokes depending on how hot you like to torch the foot. Mine lights the first time, every time. Around 30 bucks or so.

I am on my second $6 mega mini torch. (first one lasted about 3 years)holds a ton of fuel and shoots the flame straight out, perfect for cigars. (not up like most lighters) I got them both at a boutique shop in Charlestoin SC called Lianos Dos Palmas. great cigars as well. havacigar.com is their home on the web I believe.

I think I will follow the replies. It appears this is a good choice. I couldn't find any Perdomo cigars + cigar combo so I might just purchase the lighter on my next CI purchase.

I spent all day trying to find a torch locally. My local wal-mart didn't carry any Ronsons. None of their sales associates could tell me where the hygrometer was. I also went to a Target and Bed Bath and Beyond to see if they carried a "creme brulee" torch but no luck. I finally ended up in a Home Depot to find a $30 welding torch. With these options, I'm going to conclude the Thundra Table Lighter is my best choice.

Thanks everyone for their replies.

EDIT: I found a Perdomo cigar+lighter combo on Thompson cigar, but I will have to make sure it's the Thundra lighter.

Re: Recommend an affordable table top lighter?

I hate pimping for retailers, but here's a few that do this deal:

Coronacigar
Bestcigarprices
CI

There's only one freebee vector perdomo lighter, I believe all the new ones are stamped rather than the gaudy perdomo logo painted on the side that you might see as the freebee somewhere.

All of these guys thrown in the lighter... once you pick a smoke, check between all 3 to get the best price, including free shipping links ( if any ), check for freebee smokes with all orders, etc.

The thing feels like a chunk of lead, it's pretty heavy. If you decide later on the Blazer, you want the OLD version not the new version. I think there's a tool company that still sells the old one pretty cheap, Harbor Freight maybe.

Re: Recommend an affordable table top lighter?

I like the visol table lighters. They are classy. I had a megapump(vector KGM) that finally kicked the bucket after several years. That was a good lighter. I would have called it great if it was still functional.

I HATE so-called tabletop lighters that appear to be just big zippos. To me if you are putting a lighter out on your table its because you want people to see it, use it and enjoy it. Nothing enjoyable about a big zippo.

Re: Recommend an affordable table top lighter?

I have this lighter in silver, the lotus 27, but in stainless:

It is pretty sweet, and the bottom (which you can't see in the picture) is completely flat so it sits on the table that way. Dual torch, doesn't go through fuel too fast. The torches are somewhat long, and you can't really adjust them downward without having the flame go out occasionally. I don't mind the long torch though, it's more fun and you just hold it further away. The cool part is when you slide the slider back, the doors on top open like an insects mouth-tines and the flames come out (and it looks like a bug sort of).
