I have hearfelt 65% beads in it. they are bone dry. My digital gauge is at 74% and 77 degrees. Should I be concerned?

Is it calibrated. That seems bad if you have beads. Is it in a hotter spot in the room it is in.

It is calibrated. It was 80 degrees and humid today. It has been raining for about a month here in MA.

Shouldn't the beads be removing moisture?
The dial gauge that came with the humi is right around 70%

Same here with the rain as I'm in western NY. Anyway my guess would be your hygrometer isn't actually calibrated (how to calibrate your hygrometer) or you have a leak in your humi and it's in a particularly humid area. The beads work awesome. Another possibility is that you don't have enough beads for your humi area and your opening it to often or again you may have a mediocre seal. Another thought is that maybe you put a batch of new cigars in there and they are bumping up the RH.

We just had a good thread on this recently. Check it here:
Humidity Concerns and Heartfelt Beads ?

By the way, I used to live in MA. Moved from Amherst last year.

Damn I miss Atkins Farms. I am really missing their produce right now, esp. the corn. Oh, and sitting outside at sunset eating icecream and getting eaten alive by mosquitos. Tri-county fair is something to be missed too. Demolition Derby!

"getting eaten alive by mosquitos"..... a good cigar keeps the skeeters at bay. Ha Ha

That post was interesting. I'm thinking about getting some of that cat litter.

Re: My humidor is at 74% RH

I should have mentioned after sharing that link; What happened here is the same as what your dealing with--the temps and humidity suddenly ramped up creating a more humid environment in the humi. I had a couple cigars split at the foot, but they all smoked just fine. In the end, I didn't do a thing to modify the humidor. By the time I could think about buying more beads or some form of silica, the humidor stabilized in rh.I do plan on buying more beads from Heartfelt before next year though in preparation for the onslaught of moisture.

I would suggest getting some more beads and a cooler. I haven't had to do a single thing to my cooler once I set it up. It's pretty hot and humid down here too.

I have 150 qt humidor which I use an Oasis XL and HF beads to keep at about 65-67% RH. I recently a number of boxes that I threw in there and in combination with the weather I watched the RH spike to like 73%. The boxes were off of Devil's site who IMHO feel that they tend to keep their smokes a lot more wet than I prefer them. I ordered some more 65%beads and this dropped the RH to 70% but it has been holding there for the last 2 weeks.

Get some of that thin, blue sealing tape from the hardware store.
