Keeping humi in the basement question?
With the weather starting to get pretty warm around here, My humi is reading close to 80 degrees. I was thinking of moving my humidor down to the basement due to it being a good amount cooler down there. I have a dehumidifier running down there which is set up for about 55%. I would think that it would not matter due to the humidor being sealed. Can anyone see any potential problems with this?

Re: Keeping humi in the basement question?
I have mine in my nasement and it gets humid down there but not to bad. I like that it never goes aabove 70 degrees down there. Then I know they are safe. I acctully set a hydro in the basement and it read 66% humididty.
Just make sure your humi is sealed well and you should have no issue

Re: Keeping humi in the basement question?
Mine is in the basement as well. No issue's as long as your humi has a good seal.

Re: Keeping humi in the basement question?
Cool, thanks for helping to put my mind at ease, fellas. I figured it would be fine. I'll keep an eye on the hygro, but it should be about 65% or so down there even with the dehumidifer running (humidity here is insane in the summer).

Re: Keeping humi in the basement question?
Just be careful not to do too much "window shopping" with your humi in a basement. Basements are great breeding grounds for molds and mildews. When you go to the magic box, have an idea of what youre gonna smoke, before you open it. Open it, only long enough to remove the stick, then shut it. Don't leave it open so long that the natural abilities of the wood are over-run by the amount of fungi in your basements.
I live in a coastal area and so, have no basement. I keep my boxes in my dad's basement, which stays at about 70/70 all year 'round. I keep them in 2gal ziplok bags and take them home before I open them.

Re: Keeping humi in the basement question?
Good advice, Don, thanks. As luck would have it, my humi is a glass top.

If I had a basement that is where my humidors would be.
