Coolidor Temp

I have a quick question for those of you out there that have a coolidor: What are the temperatures inside your coolidor? I am using a wineador right now because where I live we have hot summers. But space is already at a premium so I was thinking about setting up a coolidor for some much needed space. What are some options of keeping a coolidor cool? I don't have a basement or area like that to store it in so I can't do that. Thanks for any help!

Re: Coolidor Temp

Doesn't seem like a whole lot that you can do to keep the coolidor from getting to room temperature. I did see some posts about rotating some sort of ice packs wrapped in towels but that was only a temporary solution while the AC was broken.

Along with my vino I have a couple of coolerdors. Of course I live in Texas and it gets hot. Mine stay at about 77 in the coolest room in the house. Keep the humidty at 65 and no problems for several years now. Last year during Ike no power for 12 days and temps in the 80s they survived just fine...

Good post and worthy of the RG I just gave! Short of getting something like an Edge Star or Vinotemp, there really is no way to consistently keep anything cool, unless you want the hassle of putting some cooling medium in it every several hours.

Otherwise, adjust humidity down to 65% or even slightly below. Given propper humidity, all you're really worried about is beetles. When those little suckers get warm, they get hungry. Just check your stock every few days and look for holes. If you see any, discard the effected sticks and freeze the rest.

Re: Coolidor Temp

The temps in the room right now range from 70 to 76 over a 24 hour period. Inside the cooler stays between 70 and 72.

Re: Coolidor Temp

Thanks for all of the info and help. I am going to make some cedar trays for my wineador to better utilize the space so I can fit more in. I will post pictures when I am done.

Re: Coolidor Temp

BT,

We need to find a sale on the vinotemps like they had earlier this year, they are fairly pricey right now.

Master Shake says "Dancing is forbidden" to Meatwad in the pilot episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force (and sings it in the song). I must watch too much of that show, hehe.

Re: Coolidor Temp

The new wine fridge that I picked up was a 12 bottle Emerson for $75 at Target...a pretty decent price.

I need to bust out my season 1 dvd of ATHF and check that out....It's rare for me to miss a Aqua Teen reference lol.
