humidor/humidifier question
i glanced a bit and didnt see a similar question to mine so here goes, you guys seem very friendly and helpful
![]() ![]() Ill try to make this as short and brief as possible. I recently got a new humidor a few days back(75-100ct) and a new cigar oasis XL. I seasoned it a day with the oasis on wall power and it didnt seem like it worked well so i did 1-2 days with the oasis on wall power and i wiped the cedar down along with having warm water in a bowl at the bottom of the humidor. I was holding humidity okay at 72%. I did the dollar bill test and found the sides of the humidor werent as well sealed as the front so i fixed the probelm with some tape for now. I then retested with the dollar bill test and when closing the lid from 3" or so i do have a nice woosh and it does not slam. So after that i put in roughly 10 cigars and noticed it was holding okay for a while but it seemed like the oasis was turning on more frequenltly. So figured keeping a humidor consistant with onyl 10 cigars in it may be hard to do so i put in another 10-15 cigars. Now my oasis is turning on roughly ever 3-5 minutes for around 10 seconds. I know it takes some time for it get stable after adding cigars to a humidor but does this all seem normal that my oasis is kicking on that often. Thank you guys in advance for the replies. Mike |

Re: humidor/humidifier question
Sounds like the cigars were a bit dry so the Oasis is having to come on more due to the cigars sucking up the humidity. I think you will be ok but I would check the cigars occasionally to make sure they are not getting too humid.
Also, it usually takes about 7 - 10 days to properly season a humidor.

Re: humidor/humidifier question
interesting if i would of known 7-10 days i would of waited longer to add cigars but every place i read said 1-3 days at most. I guess im just gonna keep the lid closed and see if it holds some humidity better once the cigars sop up some humidity

Re: humidor/humidifier question
little update i put a bowl of distilled water in the humidor with my cigars in there for around 16 hours and when i got home my cigars were def on the moist side but the humidifier was only reading 70.8%. So automatically im thinking maybe oasis is off. I dropped the percentage to 67.5% and it seems to be holding much better. At one point the oasis didnt go on for over an hour. Well see how the cigars smoke in a few days, if they burn good ill leave it where its at if not i was thinking to get a digital rh/temp gauge.

Re: humidor/humidifier question
Since they have been wet, you may want to consider dry boxing them for 24 hours before lighting up.
