Pushing up the rh level.

I have three larger humis(100-125 count) one fourty count, and one twenty count humi.
They all are doing a great job of keeping the rh between 65-68 degrees.
They all have digital hydros, and a credo, that were first wetted with pg, and then a few days later another splash of distilled water.
QUESTION. In the three larger humidors, I would like to push up the rh closer to 70 on a regular basis. How could I increase the rh by those 3-5 degrees I desire, without changing the credos I have in them?
The forty count one is where I transfer the cigars I plan on using in the next month or two, to dry them just a bit, but generally I would like to rest them, and age them at a bit more rh.
Much regards Jerry

Re: Pushing up the rh level.

Personally I find 62-65% perfect for the cigars I smoke.

At 70% alot of cigars smoke wet, again this is my opinion.

Re: Pushing up the rh level.

Usually my advice is not to worry about a 2-3% percent varience in humidity, It would drive me crazy.... Only because it seems there are times when the RH will just vary, winter to summer, as your humidifers dry out, opening the humi more often, etc

But if you really want to take the RH up by just two or three percent, I would make sure you've tested your hygrometers (salt test), and then consider adding a larger or an additional humidifer.

If your not using humidification beads, take a look at them they seem to do the best job at maintaining a steady RH and usually at a desired set point. There also the easiest to maintain IMO.

Best of luck.

Sage advice.
You can also add a shot glass of distilled water next to the credos to help it wick additional moisture.

Re: Pushing up the rh level.

You could throw in a water pillow or two that may hike the humidity.
I'm with you guys though; 62-65 is perfect for my tastes.

Just realize that this is going to be a slow process if you have a bunch of sticks in these humidors. You don't want to adjust the rH of the humidor so much as you want to adjust the rH of the mass of cigars sitting in the humidor.

I would suggest placing multiple humidifiers throughout the humidor, as others have suggested. That way you're actually changing the humidity of the cigars, rather than simply tweaking the small air space at the top of your humidor. You could use humidicare tubes, beads, boveda packs or whatever you prefer to use.
