Vinotemp (or similar) in CANADA
Does anybody have a source for these units in Canada? The models I see at sears or lowe's either have a max temp of only 61 F, or they aren't thermoelectric, or they're super large super expensive models.

Re: Vinotemp (or similar) in CANADA
But that it the maximum temperature the unit will adjust to. I'd not to have to keep it maxxed out. Ideally the middle of the unit's range would be 61. That way there is a little bit of wiggle room. If the unit with a maximum setting of 61 is just a couple of degrees off, you're going to end up in the 50's.
I thought 65 to 70 was more commonly used. Same for humidity. |

Re: Vinotemp (or similar) in CANADA
Ya, you are correct. My humis are kept at 65/65. From what I know the lower the temp the slower the aging process (correct me if I'm wrong).
You use the term "maxed out" at 61. Keep in mind that it is a fridge. Maxed out to me would be the other end of the scale, or in other words the coldest temp that the unit could maintain. |

Re: Vinotemp (or similar) in CANADA
If you can't set the dial to 65, and can only set it to 61 max, then how would you force it to reliably maintain 65?

There's one at Rona and it's thermo, although not as nice as the Vinotemp.

Not bad. But only goes to 62F Mechanically controlled, so possibly can be jerry-rigged (sorry) to be set at 65. I guess it could be set at 62 and just hope for the best. But to me that's just too close to the lower limit of what I'm comfortable with. |
