Question Herf-a-dor / Cigar Caddy question.

I just got a herf-a-dor 5 ct. travel humi.
(I believe the same as a Cigar caddy 3400)
The Humidifier is a little green disc in the center of the lid.
How often do I need to moisten it if using it all of the time?
How much do I moisten it?
Thx guys!

I would be interested to know as well. For now I just lightly misted the middle disc with some distilled water until I could see it was visibly damp.

For a 5-ct. I would not think you will need to fully charge it but if you use it for storage it may require that to be the case.

I also have a Cigar Caddy (30 ct.) and use 65% Boveda Packs in it. I feel with the disc you run the risk of over humidification because the Caddy seals so well. If you use the Boveda Packs this is not an issue.

Here is what I received:

Thank you for your email! You would need to put a couple drops of distilled water in the top part of the herf a dor. I would say to do this about once a week if you use the humidor frequently. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you!

Thanks,

Stephanie

Re: Herf-a-dor / Cigar Caddy question.

I am also a new owner of the 15 ct, cigar caddy. At first I just put a drymista tube in it, and it seemed I couldnt get over 55 percent rh.
I took the tube out, and squirted the credo with some pg solution.
Now I am fighting to get the humidity down. I close it up for an hour and check the rh, and it started off around 80. After a few days of leaving it open for a few hours, then closing it down, it now reads about 74.
I am going to keep doing it, till it gets down to 67 or so. I put in some thompson cheapos, hoping that will soak up some of the rh, but didnt seem to make a difference.
I am looking forward to having a travel humi, in my truck. Bottom two layers for cigars, top for a hygro, cutter, lighter and some cedar strips.
Much regards Jerry

Re: Herf-a-dor / Cigar Caddy question.

I have been selling and using these things for years, and my advice is to never use the supplied humidifiers. They are just too close to the cigars, and can cause mold and soggy cigars real quick. also, even when using just a few drops of a pg mix, its still tough to keep the humidity down. Cigar Caddy was smart for going with the bovedas in their large travel humidors, and it was actually me who advised Josh from Cigar Caddy to go with the Boveda. He listened, and his customers are better off for it. for the smaller Caddies, you can get a 7 gram and 14 gram Humidipak. they work perfectly in the smaller Caddies.
