New Coolerdor RH Issue
Hey Gang,
Finally broke down and bought a coolerdor, and am glad I did because of all the space. I have a pound of heartfelt beads in there. Recently I moved my digital hygrometer into the coolerdor to test what the RH was. The hygrometer was fading/blinking so I changed the battery, re-salt tested it to 75, and stuck it in the coolerdor. After a few days it is reading a steady 79%. It is definitely not 79% in the house in general. I took the digital hygro out and put it back in my regular humidor and after a day, it read 74% in the cedar humi, which is to be expected because that's what I was getting all summer on that reading. So what's the deal with my coolerdor reading so high? I really doubt she's got 79% RH in there...especially because I keep opening the damn thing to check the hygrometer! The beads are one pound of 65% formula. Any tips? I am going to re-calibrate the hygrometer again just for good measure but I doubt I will get different readings. It gives me the same reading in my non-cooler humis as I have come to expect. |

Re: New Coolerdor RH Issue
Def re-check the hygrometer first thing. If it is accurate, then I'm guessing you have over saturated the beads. If they are all clear they are toI started off with about half of them clear and half the milky white color. Or you can add some spanish cedar ( i used boxes) and it will soak up a lot of the humidity from the beads. Plus it will help keep the humidor stable.
GOOD LUCK |

Re: New Coolerdor RH Issue
That must be it then, the beads are too saturated. I put in a ton of Spanish cedar pieces so hopefully they will help to bring it down. I'll keep an eye on it and see if after a few weeks the RH starts to come down.

Re: New Coolerdor RH Issue
Also, when I first got my cooler and beads it took about a week to stabilize. Patience is the key.
