Walmart.com: Springfield Digital Indoor Thermometer with Hygrometer: Lawn & Garden

And, if not what do you suggest as an alternative?

Re: Digital Hygrometers

I think a lot of people use them and they are good for the money. Just remember they are not adjustable and some people prefer to get adjustable so they know for sure the exact humidity reading. If you buy more than one of these units for your humidor, make sure to not mix them up if they are off a few percentage points as you need to either remember how much they are off, or write some sort of note/reminder.

I personally prefer the adjustable kind as I have a few for my wineador.

Re: Digital Hygrometers

I just bought one and it seems to be pretty accurate. I also got one of these, Acu-Rite 00613 Digital Hygrometer from Wal-Mart, that they had there. It is a little bigger but works just as well and is only $1 more than the one you linked to. Definitely more for larger humi/coolers though.

I have one of these and it's worked great for six months. Mine tested spot-on so I haven't messed with it.

I also have two Madelaines and a Xikar. The Xikar can be calibrated via the red button, but the Madelaines have to have the battery removed and replaced to reset to 75% durning a salt test. The Springfield may also do the same thing, but since mine is accurate, I haven't tried it.

All said, since I use HF beads , I really dont need them other than to tell me when to recharge my beads and even that's a pretty flimsy excuse.

Re: Digital Hygrometers

there are a ton of people on here that use the wally world hygrometers and love them.
I just bought a hygroset adjustable though.. no reason for me to skimp.

I see it like when I was the GM of a motorcycle dealership.
I would see these people buy the fastest production bike on the planet at the time (ZX-14), and then they'd come to me and ask "Whats the cheapest helmet you got"?
How stupid is that?!?

Obviously you arent an idiot, these aren't 195+ mile an hour motorcycles, and a hygrometer isnt life and death.
I just feel that buying a good humi and a good hygrometer compliments good cigars, right?

Re: Digital Hygrometers

I have a bunch of these from Wal-Mart. You can buy three of them for the price of one "real" cigar hygrometer. That makes 'em perfect in my book. But I'm currently in the process of converting all my humis to bead regulation, so that will make things easier still ...

Re: Digital Hygrometers

I currently use both of the Walmart brands listed above but have been through many of them after testing them to 75% accuracy
