A friend of mine has this exact tool but only it is with the Opus X Insignia made to look like a cigar. Inside is the threaded rod like the one shown and he paid close to this price as well. The idea of the threaded rod is right and will open up the cigar if it is plugged but the drawback is you can only use this on bigger size cigars or else you will "gut" the inside of a smaller RG cigar. This is why a knurled rod works for almost any size cigar as it will not destroy the inside filler but rather tunnel it and open the cigar so it will draw.

2 more weeks, Don and I will light that HdM on a cruise I am taking down to the Bahamas for a few days.

I've bought one of these and love it. I keep it with me all the time.

PM sent. Can we see some pics of the business end?

While I love exotic hardwoods as much (likely more) as the next guy, I'm not really concerned about aesthetics on such a tool. I'm more interested in function. OTOH, if it can be pretty AND functional, why not?

Gary, is this the one you had "modded"?

Re: Best Draw Tool?

I purchased one of Troy's draw tools a while back. Only had to use it once but it is an awesome mix of form and function!

I got mine made out of Zebrawood.

Nope, I had the Draw Poker from ( gasp,,Fhlompson's ) modded up and knurled only because you can run the full length of the cigar and not get off track and have it come out on the side of the cigar. The Draw Poker has a guide to ensure a straight poke as we wouldn't want the rod going into the wrong chute now would we?

Re: Best Draw Tool?

I bought a draw tool from Boom awhile ago, and I use it faithfully.

Best cigar accessory I bought in awhile.

Worth the money, and we are helping out one of our own.

Boom was kind enough to PM me with his examples. Nice work and seems like a good guy, just not what Im looking for. I'm holding out for barbs.
