An idea, or, has anybody seen?...

A letter opener-type gizmo that would slip between band and wrapper to neatly slice the super-glued ones? It seems like some of the cigars that I enjoy the most, have bands that are just plain buggers to peal off, and my fingers lack the dexterity they once had.

Thanks,

I can't imagine getting something in between the band and the wrapper without damaging the cigar (I've tried pretty unsuccessfully), however, I have had luck using a sharp object like a pocket knife to peel the band of where it wraps around and glues to itself. Once you get the paper started, you can usually carefully peel it off of the cigar wrapper without damaging the cigar or tearing the band.

Did you try wetting the band? A good lick may soften the glue so the band could slide free

On the very stubborn bands I will use a small razor blade that has been removed from a Bic safety razor (unused of course). It is narrow and very thin and I can get it to slide right under the band.

I haven't tried that, thanks.

My biggest problem is, I'll get it started, then it'll start coming apart like it was 2 ply. Leaving me holding the outer layer, and the inner one still wrapped around the cigar. I agree, it would be a difficult thing to make something that would slip between band and wrapper. Damage seems likely, but ya never know...there's some pretty clever guys out there.

Thanks,
I think that is a great idea! I have thought about that on several occasions. We just need to find something that won't damage the wrapper.
I'll have the boys in the shop come up with something.
