Jerry, it takes a bit of spraying to get all the beads clear. You can spray and check them out, spray some more if needed. You can spray through the panty hose and still tell if they are clear or white. I have mine in a butter dish, no panty hose required, and just take the butter dish out and spray them down. I converted an extra eyeglass cleaner bottle into a distilled water sprayer. Works great.

Re: Beads, beads, beads....

I converted one of my credos to beads. I spent a whopping $.32 on nylon mesh at wally world and had a friend sew me up some bags. One of the bags I had her make to fit inside the case.

Another nifty trick is the little aluminum cup they put votive candles in. Before lighting, the candle can be easily removed from the container and they hold about an oz of beads. I buy votives for a $1.99 for 50 at the dollar store. Yeah, Im cheap.

Re: Beads, beads, beads....

Its been about a week I've had the beads in and I'm still not sold on them. I got two questions about them:

1. Is it weird that my humidity is around 70% in all my humis that now have 65% beads in them? If this is weird I still have some of the gel tubes in two of those humis- would that cause this?

2. Heartfelt's website says you can never have too many beads. Is this really true? If I decide to to store some beads for later use can I simply put them in a zip lock bag?

Ok, thats more than two questions, but thanks in advance for any and all help.

Have you tested your hygrometer lately to see if it is accurate? If the beads are mostlyu clear and you have another humidity source in there the rh can go up. If the beads are clear they can't absorb any more moisture.

No matter how many beads you have in a humidor they will not drive the rh up higher than the rh they are designed to hold. So yes there is no way to have too many beads.
