Humidor Project

I just picked up a old cigar case, with a locking " in a sence" top ( their is a side switch to open, very nice) Anyways its the good old case of the Grand " Seleccion Privada TUVAL MPR habana, Marcelino Perez & Co."

Anyways i was readign around of people making their own humidors. And by using green foam used by florists as the device used to soak with the solution or distilled water. I work at a garden center for one of my jobs ( wholesale etc) and i can get my hands on as much needed. So what is next, buy some of the solution, or just distilled water... An electric humidity device, and somesort of casing used to hold the green foam?

if this is going to work i think it will be great, knowing of the small costs and i can get anything without ordering off the net at local stores. I understand i may have to season the box for a while in order for the wood to soah the humidity perhaps. so any input on this would be great. other then that i will have to buy off the net or at my store for alot more money then off the net, but its SO much easier to go to the local shop haha. Who knows, i hope this will work.

Anyways to sum it up its summer, humid as hell in my house so im sure a few i have in the box are doing fine as is. Anyadvice would be greatly apreciated. And if anyone is needing of some of the green foam, give me the PM, i can get alot haha, if you dont wanan use the traditional beads, etc.

and after reading around, it creates a really godo seal, it has a ridge that goes up and the top kindof goes around it, so if you put the flash light in,,, no way you woudl see the light.

Sounds like a cool idea man. But it would only hold maybe 25 cigars and with the humidifier it would hold 15-20 i dont think it would be worth it. Cool project though.

I like the idea for a desk top humi to hold what you will smoke soon. I wouldn't even worry about the seal that much for this use. A classic box like that is beautiful to display and pull smokes out of. I would make sure there is no mildew or mold smell to the box after being seasoned and before putting the smokes in.

The foam will work fine. And be sure to ask for a hygrometer.

Re: Humidor Project

i just picked up one of these Disposable humi. thingy's ( 1.50$ or so)
it releases the solution when needed. The lady said i should be fine for now with one of those replaced every 30 days. So that will work great for a few smokes. And i may wait on the Humidor untill i can buy a decent one. Who knows what i have now with the humi thing might work fine for a few here n their. im still young so i dought i will have a huge collection.
( for now that is haha)
Thanks again S.T-
