Display Humidor

Thinking of buying this one from CubanCrafters.com

Anyone own one and like it?

It's perfect sized for me, because I move around a lot and don't have a permanent place to put an actual end table sized one (though I'm contemplating doing a bar with a humidor in the bottom).

I like the price and the looks.

Also, I was thinking about (2) two-ounce tubes from Heartfelt.. one for the top tray, the other for the bottom.

Words from the wise?

Re: Display Humidor

Looks good to me. For my personal use, that would be too small, but if you move a lot, that may be suitable for you.

Re: Display Humidor

I have the exact humidor. It is pretty nice for the money. The seal is not air tight so you have to top off the water a little more often. They use plexiglass and not real glass so you have to be careful of scratches when cleaning the glass. I also have thre model below and prefer it a little more for a few reasons. The shelves are adjustable and they use real tempered glass. As far as the seal issue, you could get some of the thin foam weather striping and put it around the door and use clear caulk top seal every where else. I have never done this because I dont mind adding water a little more often. You will need a digital hygro and a oasis unit in the top and the bottom. I used velcro and put one on top and one on bottom. Hope this helps, RJT

I also have this one and prefer it moore.

Re: Display Humidor

Thanks RJT. Seems like a lot of work, so I guess I'll just hold out and buy a Vicksburg later on.

They are not that bad at all. I have to add water about every 3 weeks to a month and I have not sealed mine at all. Just letting you know. Good luck. Semper Fi, RJT

Re: Display Humidor

I too have this same humidor. I enjoy it, but I had to do some modification:

Bought weather-seal strips from home depot to seal it up
Bought a digi-hygrometer (should do anyway); the attached analog was DOA
Using one 4 oz tube from Viper, works great

I like mine, but I am already out-growing it. It says 100 sticks, but I have about 75 in mine now (mostly all different) and it is full. So if you intend to keep your collection modest in size, this can do. Yet... the slide seems to get most, so do buy bigger than you think you'll need.

This is just for display, not actual storage.

I think it would just add to the decorum of an utterly spartan interior.

Re: Display Humidor

The Vicksburgh may serve the same function decoration wise but additionally will store more. The glass top on it is awesome. It is a lot bulkier though. It can be purchased cheaper than this one actually..

Got mine here.

I was talking to Jimmy last night about the Vicksburg.. I just don't have much space, and the vertical display would better suit the size of the room.. but it doesn't hold as much as the Vicksburg. Just not sure where I would put the Vicksburg.

It is a heck of a decision. It would be a no brainer if I was back home.. I'd buy the Vicksburg. But I'm not, so I have to look at size, not storage capacity/price.

Sucks to be me, sometimes,

Re: Display Humidor

I would just say on top of the other valuable advice already given to be sure that that is the size you want-i made the mistake of buying several humis early on as my collection grew beyond my expectations.

Re: Display Humidor

I went with the Vicksburg and 1/2 lb. 65% RH beads from Viper.

Combine that with the 8 bottle wine cooler I also purchased, and the cigars this weekend, I'm broke.

For the first time ever, it feels good to be single, cause can I say this:

Most guys my age have a girlfriend, fiance or wife... I collect cigars and wine, but ya know what, I'm happy AND relaxed
