need help-----seriously!
hello guys,
Ive just gotten atlast the johnson A419, but the DI·&k heads I bought it from didnt send me no instructions...some instructions on the net I downloaded arent really much help. What Ive already done was set my setpoint temp. my differential (dont know whats the difference between this and the offset) and the offset. The problem is , my fridge is already plugged into this machine but wont turn on and the sensor reads 78 degrees, mind you my setpoint was 65 with a 5 degree offset and a 4 degree differential..please please someone tell me how to work this temp. controller....seriously,please!

Re: need help-----seriously!
You need to check the jumpers inside to make sure it is set to cool, not heat.
The differential is the difference between the cut on and cut off. The offset is not used, it has to do with using a clock for night setback temp. There are three jumpers. #1 and #2 are right above each other, and they should be open (put the jumper on just one of the pins). The other jumper locks and unlocks the keypad, it should be closed (jumper over both pins). That oughta do ya.

Re: need help-----seriously!
thanks guys, but my a419 is supposed to be the pre-wired one so its supposed to be like a set and forget type o thing right? Atleastthats what I read on the place I bought it, so I dont understand non of this jumper and wiring business.
it just seems that the freeking frigde wont turn on when it reads 70 and when it read 52 in one time , meanwhile having my setpoint at 65 with a 4 degree differential.....This was supposed to have been fool proof I read , well that just makes me a fool then......

Re: need help-----seriously!
I did not use the Johnson A419 but did use a digital Ranco. I wired it myself and the first one did the same thing. My digital display would light up and allow me to set everything but the switch inside the controller was bad and would not turn on the fridge. I would contact the people you got it from and tell them the situation and see what they will do for you. This is the only thing that stinks about online ordering is when things go wrong they can sometimes be a biatch to fix. You can't walk in and rant and rave. Good luck I'm sure it will all work out unfortunately it will probably take some time and effort that could have been used elsewhere.

Re: need help-----seriously!
well seems I was wrong about one thing....the fridge does turn on, I made a mistake and had the switch turned to off. However, and this seems to piss me off is that whenever the temp. rises over the setpoint (65) plus the differential which is 5 , the temp. controller wont turn the fridge on , and when the temp. is below the setpoint and the differential , the fridge turns on , which means the temp. plunges down.....this is supposed to be backwards!!!!! right?! please help me,

Re: need help-----seriously!
Some of them are shipped set for cooling, and some set for heating.
Open the box (4 philips screws), and look at the jumpers. Make sure it is set for cooling. It sounds like yours is set for heating.
