Now I need hygro issue suggest.

Ok.....First of all I can't wait until I'm no longer a f-in noobie..OK

I have a humidor up and running dead nutz 64-66%rh via heartfelt beads. I just got a cooler $12 and a new hygrometer $6, its a cheapo from Wall Mart. Instead of salt testing it I just threw it in my humidor thats already going good to test it. It has been in there 8 or so Hrs and my old hygro. reads 64 while the new one is reading 59-60. Should I just always remember to add 5 or 6 to it for life. Is that the best approach?

Put a fresh battery in the digital hygro, if you haven't already. They read low when the voltage drops.

If it's digital, yes. If it's analog, you wasted $6 IMO.

Good tip, Lou!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Teninx again.

Could someone spot me, please?

Re: Now I need hygro issue suggest.

You still may want to salt test it though. Some of the Wally World $6 hygros are dead on, while others are off 4-6%. I have some of each, so I always salt test to make sure how much I need to +/-.

Well what I did was put the new hygro. in my humidor with another hygro that was already salt tested and is dead on 65%, so thats kind of a test in itself no? ---It's off by 5% consistently, but with beads from heartfelt I guess hygro's aren't really even necessary I trust the beads.

Re: Now I need hygro issue suggest.

Should be good to go, but if you haven't salt tested your other hygro in a few months, you may want to do it again. Its probably good practice to recheck every 6 months or so, or after you change batteries.

I would say if you have the beads, you are probably fine. The beads do a pretty good job at keeping the humidity stable.

Those batteries should be good because even the "old" one is like 1 month old lol...I had to change the batteries in the new one b/c I ignorantly grabbed a battery out of the cabinet, not thinking Hey this might be used already. So it was the new hygro I changed the battery in. I really appreciate all the good advice thanks to all.
