New Humidor Set-up

[SIZE="4"]
I AM A LONG-TIME CIGAR SMOKER. I STARTED OFF WITH SWISHER SWEETS WHEN I WAS LIKE 13-14. MY PROBLEM IS THAT IT HAS BEEN AT LEAST 10 YEARS SINCE I GOT A NEW HUMIDOR AND HAD TO PREP IT. I HAVE TWO NEW 300 COUNT HUMIDORS ON THE WAY AND I WOULD LIKE SOME TIPS ON GETTING THEM SET-UP. I AM A NEW GORILLA, BUT I HAVE BEEN CAREFULLY READING MANY OF THE POSTS ON HERE. I HAVE PURCHASED THE BEADS (BOTH A ONE POUND BAG AND A LARGE 4 OUNCE ALUMINUM HUMIDIFIER. HOW SHALL I GET STARTED?

Don't use anything but distilled water with the beads.

Re: New Humidor Set-up

That's one of the reason's to use beads....no more messing with funky solutions, just distilled water. Check heartfelt's site for information on how they work, you'll be good to go.

Re: New Humidor Set-up

Good luck on the start up. One thing to note is you have to be careful about wiping down the inside of the humi with distilled water. It's not really a bad thing to do, but you can go overboard and get into a cycle of high and low humidity or at worst ruin the wood. Patience is the key.

Don’t worry about the font. It was something new to see! The first picture I posted was a monster.

Re: New Humidor Set-up

The way I got my humi going was by leaving distilled water in a cup in it and having the humidifyer(in your case beads) also in there so the wood can soak in humidity. I dont wipe down the walls of mine caus the instructions said not to, though i do know alot of people do. Something that will help it get humidity faster is by warming up the distilled water cup/dish thing in the microwave and then putting it in there. The heat and steam make a lot more humidity. I also put mine in the bathroom when I took a shower and left it open. That helps it absorb pretty fast too. Once it hits 65-70 and stays there its time for the stogies. Welcome to CS and I hope that the new humis go well.
