Cigar Aficionado Cover Humidor

This Saturday I went to Sanborns, the local store I buy my cigars, and before I left I saw a few new humis they had. While I was looking at them I noticed a humi that they had for quite a long time, but now it was in a closeout price along with a few other items. Just for curiosity I asked how much did it cost and it had 90% discount, it was originally priced at 680 dlls (which i Think was extremely expensive since it is only a desktop HUmi), but with the discount I bought it for 65 dlls. I dont know if this is a special Humi or something (Because of the price), but just wanted to show it to you guys, what do you think and if it really was worth the original price.

It is a black humi with a graphic of a cover of the cigar aficionado magazine in the top. It is all glossy, and on the inside has a built in Analog hygrometer. It has a divider, and also on the lid, it has a small plate with what looks like a serial number. Here I have a few pics.

This is how it looks outside:

This is how it looks on the inside: (Dont mind the ticket mark, Ill try to take it off)

This is the Hygro:

And this is the Plate:

Well what do you guys think?

Carlos Sanchez.

Yeah, dlls are Dollars. of course i bought in on Pesos, but it was easier to convert the amounts for the post.

I thought of selling it in ebay, but it does look cool so I also do want to keep it.

Nice humi. Looks to be probably from the 90's. CA did some items with that picture on it back a few years ago.. You can find a matching Zippo on Ebay at times. Not sure thats its worth big bucks or anything. I would try and find you a matching lighter on Ebay and keep the set. RJT

Scroll down about half way and you will see the lighter I am talking about.

I found this humi you can keep an eye on to see what it brings.

Re: Cigar Aficionado Cover Humidor

thanks for the links! I tried searching around but couldnt find anything. I really thought the original price was way overpriced, but the store i bought it is a fancy "departamental/boutique" style of store, and is known for having high prices so Im not really surprised.

I had already seen that humi there for a long time, but never thought of asking for the price cause of the reason above, but since i saw it with a discount, well I think it is worth the 65 dollars I paid . Well I think i will really consider keeping it, since it is a nice piece of collection, looks great, and as said before, you can never have too much space for storing cigars .

Re: Cigar Aficionado Cover Humidor

how stupid is it that CA tells you never, EVER lighter a stogie with a zippo.....and then they put out CA zippo's.

There is a nice torch insert for zippos that works well, also I believe you can use them with some spirit fuels (ie not petrol) that do not have a taste.

Zippo fuel is meant to be one of the cleanest fuels and that stinks regardless. tbh the advice on never usng yellow flames is more CA rubbish i find, they never impart a taste especially if you do a purge after lighting.
