Who uses stick matches?

Does anyone out there actually use stick matches? I was given a box of Macanudo long sticks and loved them. They are not always ideal outdoors, but to me it cooks the foot better. Anyone agree/disagree?

Re: Who uses stick matches?

I usually smoke outside, so the stick matches are a pain. A tourch lighter works really well in the wind.

Re: Who uses stick matches?

Totally agree-i have a Blazer PB-207 but give me a good old fashioned long match anyday. i only have the torch for outdoors windy use [where itis excellent] but i feel i have more control with a match. love the feeling of using one too-kinda retro feeling. i also feel it is easier to use as its a cooler flame than a torch so can actually touch the foot of the gar.

Re: Who uses stick matches?

Indoors i use long cooks matches for pipes and cigars, however outdoors i use my ronson or my blue flame if its windy (or for pipes).

Re: Who uses stick matches?

I almost always use matches. When I first started smoking a pipe, I was told that using a conventional lighter runs the risk of tainting the tobaccy with chemicals.

Re: Who uses stick matches?

It is a toss up when I'm in my shop. Sort of a 50/50 split between my Roburn 7705 and the stick match. Outside I stick to my cheap but reliable Nibo.

Re: Who uses stick matches?

If i am outside, i use a lighter. If i am inside i prefer to use the 3" cedar matches.

I use stick matches whever I can. It is definately the best way to light a cigar. The only problem is that you cant use them everywhere. That is where the torch lighter come in.

But, if I am inside its matches all the way.

Re: Who uses stick matches?

I prefer stick matches but am usually using book matches,,I rip off about six matches and light them all at once and this seems to work pretty good..

Re: Who uses stick matches?

I have never lit a cigar with anything else..EVER...not really by choice, but I dont have a lighter. The only lighter I own (a butane one) doesn't work! I really get annoyed when there is some wind, but I will use a whole box if I have to!! I enjoy it now.

I use matches when I can. But like everyone else they are tough to use on a windy day.

Re: Who uses stick matches?

for the sitting in the easy chair and enjoying what is happening you cannot beat a stick match but it also depends on the cigar. a light really mild cigar will need to be lit with a stick match or you can smell the butane in the cigar. just my

I usually use stick matches unless I'm outside and it's windy, then I use a lighter.
