CAO CX2 Humidor

Two weeks ago, my wife and I went to our local B&M for a CAO taste testing. Basically it was a fun chance to waste time, smoke some cigars and meet new people. They gave away door prizes, the big one being a CAO CX2 Humidor.

We were all told this was about a $400 humidor and it was quite a prize. My wife decided she was going to win the humidor and proceeded to tell everyone she met/talked to about how they can go home if they are only waiting to see who will win it since she was going to.

The CAO rep and owner were calling out names giving away hats, shirts, sampler packs, zippos, travel humidors, etc., etc. then finally came to the humidor in question. Lo-and-behold they call my wife's name. (She actually wins lots of things by speaking it into being )

Well, now we have this humidor that came with a hat and a little sampler pack. I had to get a hygrometer and humidifier. The guys at the B&M suggested
and .
I knew I wanted somthing of quality after all we did just win a $400 humidor and our current humidor sucked along with the humidifier/hygrometer. I wanted something good.

Anyway, I got my humidor ready, and transplanted our old smokes and now they taste a whole lot better, and the wrappers are no longer crackling/falling apart.

So can anyone tell me about this humidor, I would just like to know more about it. I checked online and it is NOT a $400 humidor, it is more of a $150-$250 based on eBay and another local overpriced B&M. Still very nice and it is something we would not have bought otherwise.

I think I may have to get some beads for it soon, but right now I need to fill it up.

Thanks.

I have never seen that humidor before but from the pictures it looks like a nice box. The B&M next door to me also pushes the diamond crown units you have shown. They are both very nice also. Congrats!

Re: CAO CX2 Humidor

Theres nothing really to tell. It IS a $400 humidor. you cant go off ebay prices for its actual value. Shops do sell them for $400.

Its a limited edition that came out to celebrate the release of the CX2 cigar line.
It should hold about 100 sticks i think. And i think it comes in a felt/velvet bag that says CX2 on it.

The diamond crown gear are good choices.

Re: CAO CX2 Humidor

I agree with aphexacid, to a point. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, but if somebody wants to sell that humidor on Ebay for $10, it doesn't make it a $10 humidor.

Anyway, I'm sure all the LLGs here will agree with me when I say that you should drop that DC humidification element and just get beads. I know you just bought it, but there's no substitute for the peace of mind and rock-solid reliability of bead technology. CLICKY

Other than that, killer score, bro. Welcome to Club Stogie!

Re: CAO CX2 Humidor

My local B&M wants $300 for the CX2 humi he got from the CAO rep. Around christmas time they were selling for much more on eBay than they are now. No matter how you look at it, it is a nice humi, and something to be proud of. I have several DC humidification elements and they do not work perfectly on their own. I have beads AND the DC and i never have to touch the beads. I make sure the humidifer is filled and the beads do the rest. This is especially important in the winter. So far this summer I have not had to do anything to my desktops that have the DC and beads.
Nice haul bro, just be happy..

Re: CAO CX2 Humidor

One of my humidors is a CAO, but it is not a CX2. It is a 75-100 stick unit. I love it, it has a nice tight seal and great grain. I bought it several years ago for around 160.00 on clearance, and I still use it today.

In fact, I have started searching for another "inexpensive" (thats relative) CAO humidor as they are a nice price-point between the cheaperdors and the Elie's, Dunhilll's, etc...

Mine came with a CAO element, not a DC. The DC is a much better unit, but I am going to switch to beads in the next month or so.

Re: CAO CX2 Humidor

While I like the beads I recently picked up, I wouldn't be too quick to discount the Diamond Crown unit either.

I've been using one in one of my humidors for around ten years, and it works flawlessly.
